"Stop Ticks on People" is an initiative
sponsored and funded by STOP Ticks, LLC. STOP is dedicated to the prevention of Lyme disease and
other tick-borne disorders by stopping the disease at it's source,
the tick. Our initiative is to study and implement environmentally
safe methods of tick control thus reducing the incidence and prevalence
of these diseases.
Lyme disease and other tick-borne disorders can
have a debilitating affect on those infected, especially when not
diagnosed at an early stage. Many scientific issues surround these
diseases, including lack of a definitive testing and treatment
protocols. Given this backdrop of medical uncertainty, STOP's
mission is an important and timely public health initiative
STOP was created on the recommendation of the
Dutchess County Legislative Task Force to Study Tick Control to
form an organization that would carry on and expand upon it's
mission. STOP operates as a coalition in partnership with Families
First New York, Inc. and various other organizations
united to reduce the incidence of tick-borne disease through
education, awareness and prevention.
To better achieve it's goals, STOP has formed
a Scientific Advisory Board and Community Advisory Board. These
advisory boards ensure that projects undertaken by STOP are
scientifically and environmentally sound, as well as responsive to
the needs of the community. As a non-profit, charitable
organization, STOP accepts funding from public, private and
individual sources to further it's work.
